A very special wellspring arises in Rantum: the “Sylt-wellspring” was tapped here in 1993 and draws from a complex well field amid a pristine dune landscape south of the village. From there, the water flows through underground pipes to the filling plant near the port.
The “Sylt-wellspring” – scientists attested the extraordinary high quality of the water. It was also the first mineral well in Germany where water featured a natural iodine content. The pure water from Sylt is being offered in many restaurants and can also be tasted directly at the glass-well house.
The special water from the Sylt wellspring gives our SILD whiskey a unique and refined taste. The use of this local water reduces the cask strength to 48% vol.
